We are hoping to arrange an exchange for the last week in October 2009 (preferably London, but will consider all offers) and for easter / summer 2010.
Our home is in the picturesque seaside village of Malahide 12k north of Dublin. It is a 4 bedroom semi-detached house that has been extensively renovated. Downstairs there is a large bright kitchen which opens onto a patio and mature south facing back garden. It is in a quiet residential area that is just a 10 minute walk from the centre of town, with its many restaurants/bars etc.
Malahide itself is a national heritage site. The town is well-known for its castle & grounds, marina, sandy beaches and estuary (popular for sailing and windsurfing, and of national importance for birdwatching). All are easily accessible by foot.
As a base for exploring Dublin and the north east coast, Malahide is very conveniently located. It has excellent public transport links to Dublin. The DART (local train) station is a 10 minute walk from our home and the trip to Dublin takes approximately 20 - 25 minutes. Buses / taxis are also available. It is about 20 minutes drive from Dublin airport (8km). To the north Belfast is 2hrs away, Carlingford and the Cooley Penninsula/ Mourne Mts about 1.5 hrs, Newgrange Tombs 45 mins and Wicklow is 1hr to the south. |
